This sample from the Indonesian island of Sumatra just blew me away. It comes from a Gayo Mountain co-op that’s not only producing spectacular beans, but is also doing great work for the community. One of their big successes has been to fund the hiring of adult laborers to process beans so the children of workers can attend school.

But it’s the flavor of these beans and the way they’re processed that just begged me to offer them. The most widely available Sumatra coffee beans are unwashed, and they tend to be heavy, with flavors that are a bit muddy. Pure washed Sumatra beans show overtly fruity notes and lack the heavy body and earthy flavors people who love Sumatra look for. The semi-washed process is ideal for these beans from Gayo. You get all the full-bodied character you want from Sumatra beans, but the flavors are pure and clear. These larger-than-average beans produce the perfect cup of Sumatra, redolent of smoky cedar and currants.

Actually love all your coffees, but dark roast is my favorite. This dark roast has a wonderful aroma and a great well-rounded smooth flavor without bitterness.

I've tried almost all there beans, and have yet to be disappointed. Always so fresh. Great company, great coffee! Just buy it already!

  4. Great taste in a low acid coffee 5 Star Review

I have been using this Sumatra coffee mixed with a small portion of Peruvian (for added flavor) to make espresso. Sumatran is known to be a low acid coffee, but some Indonesian coffees can be a little bland. This one is rich with great flavor while
Still being a good choice if low acidity is important.

Valerio, you make great roasts, and I literally received this within two days of ordering. It's great for cold brew or drip, I've used for both. And I appreciate that your bags are 16 oz as opposed to the typical 12 of other brands, which makes my cold brew making easy (I use the Toddy system which needs 16oz of beans!) Great quality and great taste!
